THE BLACK MILK COLLECTIVE

The Black Milk CollectiveThe Black Milk Collective have arrived, a coming together of minds to breathe fresh air into the current music scene - a new spin on the old format.

Featuring the lyrical talents of Brave One the Graff artist and former member of the New Wave Poets, Black Milk formed in Essex from a group of musicians, artists and various creative talents in late 2002. The Black Milk Collective have started on their mission to create new, relevant sounds.

After the success of their debut 12" release "The Competition", the Collective are preparing the release of their long awaited EP, "Are Dreams Really Messages?" In the meantime, listeners will be treated to the release of the first single from the record, entitled "New Road". This will be an exclusive download-only release. The track represents a shift in style for the group with less emphasis on melody and hooks and a markedly darker, lo-fi approach. Socially conscious lyrics weave in and out of atmospheric beats and drone effects until the last half of the tune opens up into a raw work-out, not a million miles from Massive Attack and other down beat/ trip hop acts.

All Black Milk projects will be released on Big Teeth Recordings - the future home of new artists and sounds worth hearing.

URBAN POETS

Urban PoetsUrban Poets symbolize a re-convergence of strictly slamming sounds. The late 80s and early 90s saw an explosion in UK hip hop; at the time a crew called New Wave Poets (NWP) released an EP and an album on their own label, Scary Productions. As far as history tells it, NWP were the only hip hop crew back then to release vinyl from Southend-on-sea in Essex; If not the first, then certainly one of the first in the area.

Not long after the completion of the Five Shades of Funk album and a two-track appearance on an unsigned vinyl promotion, the members of the crew went their separate ways.

Now 14 years later the veterans of UK Essex hip hop are back, with fresh sounds, slamming tracks and the same focus on conscious lyrics. This re-convergence of firing street rhythm is to be known as Urban Poets ; made up of two of the main members from NWP, URBAN POETS promise to deliver something refreshing to the UK hip hop scene.

URBAN POETS encourage you to witness the lyrics of real lyricists spun over the sublime production of Dimension Production.

In a recent twist of events Urban Poets have embarked upon a collaboration with The Black Milk Collective, and Big Teeth; this emphasizes the concept of the 're-convergence' as the main lyricist in The Black Milk Collective was also a key member in the original crew NWP.

STREET GEEK

Street GeekStreet Geek aren't sure whether they are a normal collection of homo sapiens or a living breathing concept, formed intangibly into a collective consciousness. Are they an accident waiting to happen? Or are they the results of an accident that took place prior to post-modernism? Poetic, artistic, reflective are but a few words we could use to describe such a company of people. Their quest is to formulise and spread belief in the concepts, undertones and rhythms of modern melodic expression. Masters in street rhythm, seekers of new vibes, they seek to entertain using new and original formats.

Street Geek embark on a mission of fusion creating an unlikely combination of folk, rock, soul, break beat and hip hop. Street Geek intend to feature artists, so if you have some lyrics, rapped, sung, spoken or otherwise that youd like to see mixed into a Street Geek creation, then contact us and we can contemplate a collaboration.
